Facts about Chile

Chile or the Republic of Chile is a country in South America, which occupies a long and narrow coastal strip between the Andes mountain and the Pacific Ocean. Peru, Bolivia and Argentina are the countries that lie on the border of Chile. Population of Chile is 17 million people, currency is Peso, official language is Spanish and time zone is UTC – 4 and UTC – 3.



Chile has a very distinctive shape in the form of multi-colored ribbon of land with a length of 4300 kilometers and a width of 175 kilometers. Climate of Chile varies ranging from world's driest desert climate in the north, a Mediterranean climate in the center and a rainy temperate climate in the south. Northern desert of Chile is rich in mineral wealth, principally copper. Southern Chile is rich in forests, agriculture and grazing land and it also has a large number of volcanoes and lakes.
