Facts About Chile Culture Of Chile

Historically and geographical isolation and remoteness of Chile has played a significant role in shaping the culture and society of Chile, which has relatively remained homogeneous in many aspects. In essence, the culture of Chile has a mix of colonial Spanish culture and the indigenous culture. The traditional Chileans strongly exhibit rural culture of agrarian horsemen known as the Huasos of Central Chile. With its diverse geography, the culture has remained vastly different between the Central chile and the culture in North and South Chile.





Some of the customs, lifestyles and culture in chile exhibit a strong influence of indigenous heritage of the specific regions such as Easter Island, Arica Y Parinacota Region and Araucania regions. Even today, the mainstream culture of Chile displays some characteristics of culture of Central Chile that emanates from rural Criollo and Mestizo Origin. Some of the renowned books on the culture of Chile mention that some of qualities such as sober, serious, prudent, and sense of humor, servile, among others, form a part of the Chilean National Identity.

Facts About Chile University Of Chile

University of Chile, established in September 1842, is one of the oldest universities in the Americas and the largest and oldest institution in Chile. The two most notable alumni of the University of Chile include Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral, the Nobel Laureates, in addition to couple of Head of States of Chile. In fact, most of the Presidents of Chile including the Presidents of 20th Century have graduated from the University of chile.





University of chile has 16 faculties, spread over 13 different campuses, including Faculty of Economics, Business, Arts, Science, Humanities, Philosophies, Social Sciences, Film, Chemical and Pharmaceuticals, Mental Health, Engineering, Theater, School of Government, Agronomic Sciences, Forestry, Medical, Law and Mathematics, among others. Moreover, University of chile is in-charge of many nationwide institutions such as The National Astronomical Observatory, The Chilean Commission on Nuclear Energy, The Contemporary Art Museum, Center for Greek, Byzantine and Neohellenic Studies, Center for Mathematical Modeling, and Institute of Public Affairs, among others.
