The Republic of Chile is a great country that safely made a peaceful transition to democracy. Since then tourism is growing very quickly in Chile. It is the most favorite tourist destinations along with Ecuador; Chile is the only country is South America that does not border with Brazil. Tourism is a big source of income for the country. After a massive earthquake on February 27th 2010, there was some apprehension about the reduction of tourists but some of Chile's top tourist destinations, from Patagonia in the south to the Atacama Desert in the far north are hundreds of miles from where the quake struck. So travel to Chile in 2010 would be a great experience.
