Chile Facts Capital And Population

Chile is one of the most popular tourist destination located in West coast of South America with an area of about 756,626 sq km (292,058 sq miles). According to the latest 2008 census estimate, the population in Chile is nearly 17 Millions. Santiago is the Capital and the largest city of Chile, which is situated in the central valley of the country. The Capital city Santiago is located at about 1700 feet altitude from Mean Sea Level.

Due to the sturdy economic growth of Chile, Santiago has converted into one of the most modern and developed cities of Latin America. According to last official census the population of Santiago Metro Area is 6.1 Millions. About one-third of Chile's population lives in Santiago, and 90 percent live within 320 kilometers (199 miles). It is the core commercial and business hub of entire South America.
