Facts about Chile City Temuco Facts

Temuco, sixth largest city in Chile, is a city in Southern Chile and the capital of Araucaria Region. Due to many lakes and lakeside resorts, Temuco is one of the most popular tourist hub in Chile. World famous Chilean poetry has its roots in Temuco, which is the home of two Nobel award winner poets Gabriela Mistral and Pablo Neruda. Temuco is surrounded by many plantations and coniferous forests, which produce vast agricultural crops and fruits and vegetables.





The climate in Temuco is humid and temperate climate. Temuco is also prone to natural disasters such as frequent cyclones and earthquake. During the recent earthquake in February 2010, Temuco was one of the largest affected cities besides Santiago and other cities. Araucaria museum, Red Cross building, Blue House, Art Building, large shopping centers, malls, casino, art gallery, main square, Nielol Hill, Mapuche arts and Crafts Center, Southern Andean Volcano Observatory, and Campanario Tower, are some of the important tourist attractions in Temuco.

Vina Del Mar, a coastal city in Chile, is the fourth largest city in Chile. Vina Del Mar is the Spanish word meaning 'Vineyard of the Sea”. It is also often known by the Chileans as the Garden City. Vina Del Mar is well known for its beautiful beaches Miramar, Las Salinas and Casino, an annual music festival and numerous gambling casinos. Besides large numbers of sea beaches and casinos, Vina Del Mar is also famous as a tourist place due to several parks, gardens, water fountains, a large flower clock, and sporting clubs.





Vina Del Mar has a favorable Mediterranean climate with coastal influence and fairly moderate temperatures during winter and summer. The city is one of the most liked tourist cities by the visitors from Europe and Americas. Vina Del Mar has numerous bars, restaurants, shopping malls, cinemas, fast food stores, popular supermarket chains, clubs, nightlife, botanical gardens and casinos. The Republic of Chile is a great country that safely made a peaceful transition to democracy. Since then tourism is growing very quickly in Chile. It is the most favorite tourist destinations along with Ecuador; Chile is the only country is South America that does not border with Brazil. Tourism is a big source of income for the country. After a massive earthquake on February 27th 2010, there was some apprehension about the reduction of tourists but some of Chile's top tourist destinations, from Patagonia in the south to the Atacama Desert in the far north are hundreds of miles from where the quake struck. So travel to Chile in 2010 would be a great experience.

Facts About Foxes In Chile

Throughout Chile, there is a great amount of biodiversity that led to the immense preservation efforts. There is over 5,000 higher-level plants and trees, 40 of which are currently threatened. Chile is home to over 400 different species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. It is also home to some 157 different bird species, 22 of which are currently threatened. The southern region of Chile is known as the Patagonia that is also the home to the southern biosphere and national park reserves. Here many animals from foxes to flamingos inhabit. Facts about foxes in Chile are very amusing.

Foxes or Darwin's Foxes are named after Charles Darwin, the famous scientist. Darwin's Foxes can be found in the temperate forests of Chile, South America. They subsist in two small distinct populations; one population is on the island of Chiloe and others in the Nahuelbuta National Park. Darwin’s Foxes mainly feed on small mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, insects and fruits. They breed once a year in October and they produce litter of 2 - 3 cubs. There are no subspecies of Darwin's Fox. The Foxes are also known in different names such as, Darwin Fox, Darwin’s Zorro, Zorro de Darwin, Zorro Chilote and Zorro de Chilote.

Republic of Chile is a country in South America, which occupies a long and narrow coastal strip between the Andes Mountain and the Pacific Ocean.
